MORE VACCINES AVAILABLE FROM LATE JULY IN VIETNAM

The Ministry of Health said major vaccines are expected to arrive in the country in late July to help efforts to contain diseases as summer looms, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Nguyen Tat Dat, deputy head of Pharmaceuticals Management Department at the ministry, said 10,000 doses of Pentaxim vaccine (five-in-one shot) will arrive on July 20 and another 35,000 doses in August and September.
A total of 100,000 doses of Infanrix hexa vaccine (six-in-one injection) are due to arrive on Aug 15 and 145,000 doses of chickenpox vaccine in mid-July, August and September.
Dat pledged adequate supplies of vaccines for Japanese encephalitis for the free immunisation and paid vaccination programmes.
The Department of Preventive Medicine said as of July 4 this year, some 357 cases of viral encephalitis were reported in 32 out of 63 provinces and cities with six fatalities.
A total of 16,380 patients with chickenpox were reported as of the end of May compared to 7,900 cases from the previous year.
