MAIWP-TITHE/BM MAIWP ALLOCATES RM1 MILLION IN TITHE TO FOUR HOSPITALS IN FEDERAL TERRITORY

KUALA LUMPUR,The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has allocated a total of RM1 million in zakat (tithe) to four hospitals in the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said Hospital Putrajaya would receive RM100,000 while Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center and Universiti Malaya Medical Center would each receive RM300, 000. "The tithe contribution is an annual event of MAIWP aimed at assisting the patients' fund which is in need of financial assistance or equipment," he said to reporters after the Aidilfitri Contribution at Putrajaya Hospital here today.Jamil Khir said a total of RM5.7 million had been allocated to the four hospitals since 2008 and the amount would be increased each year to help the needy patients. MAIWP has also assisted 1,037 patients suffering from various chronic diseases at a cost of RM3.53 million through its general aid scheme and health

MAIWP has also funded 243 hemodialysis applications at a cost of RM4.23 million under its RM10.1 million fund. Meanwhile, Jamil Khir said the Kelantan Islamic and Malay Customs Council, (MAIK) was monitoring the teachings of the Tarika Tarjani sect in Meranti, Kelantan. "The teachings were declared as deviant and the content of the book held by the followers is in conflict with the Islamic teachings.
