KELANTAN MB CAUTIONS PEOPLE OVER RISING NUMBER OF DENGUE CASES

KOTA BAHARU,Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakub today advised the people to take care of their health in view of the rising number of dengue fever cases in the state."We have implemented measures to check the disease in cooperation with hospitals and it is hoped that the efforts will be ongoing," he told reporters after visiting patients at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital here.The hospital director, Datuk Dr Ghazali Hasni Md Hassan, said the hospital had frozen the Aidilfitri leave for the 1,000 employees to facilitate measures to check the disease.
He said that up to today, 131 people were in the hospital and 19 of them in the intensive care unit. "The disease had abated a little but was still at the serious stage. The number of deaths from the disease stands at eight," he said. Some 100 patients of the hospital received hampers from the Kelantan government in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
