KANGAR,The new 105-bed hospital in Padang Besar costing about RM100 million approved by the federal government would provide better medical services and treatment to the people in Perlis. Health, Facilities and Public Infrastructure, and Perlis Rural Development Permanent Committee chairman Jafperi Othman hoped the project would be expedited."The state government has provided a 60-acre site for the hospital located near Taman Kim in Padang Besar," he said when met at a 'Singgah Sahur' programme organised by agencies under the Communication and Multimedia ministry at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) in Kangar early today. He said the need for the new hospital was urgent as the 400-bed HTF had
reached its maximum capacity and unable to accommodate more patients. On dengue, he said the health department had taken proactive measures to curb its spread, as well as the risk of other infectious diseases from visitors
to the state in conjunction with Aidilfitri. "One of the measures is carrying out fogging according to the convenience of houseowners. If the houseowner says he is only home at 4 am then we will go there at that time," he said.
