It may surprise doctors to know that there is no legislation which covers sexual harassment in the workplace under current Malaysian laws.
There are current proposals to amend the Employment act which defines sexual harassment as:
“any unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, whether verbal, non-verbal, visual, gestural or physical, directed at a person which is offensive or humiliating or is a threat to his well-being arising out of and in the course of his employment”.
Based on this definition, as a doctor, please take this anonymous poll. This refers to possible sexual harassment by a fellow doctor (colleague, senior or head) and not patients or other staff.
In the meantime it appears that we are still waiting for this legislation in Malaysia
